Career in Movies

Sonia made her debut in Kannada film called chandu with Sujeeth, and her potential and talent is soon recognized by film makers of other regional languages, and then she went on bagging lucrative offers and appeared in several Telugu and Tamil movies.

Kadhal Kondein (2003) was her debut Tamil movie wherein she acted alongside Dhanush. Directed by Selvaraghavan, it was story of a young man who is physically and mentally abused in his childhood, the film shows how he slowly turns into a psychopath who kills anyone who comes in the way of the girl for whom he has an obsessive, Sonia appears as Divya to play the lead role.

Her latest movie is Thiruttu Payale is a Tamil film directed by Susi Ganesan, where Sonia appears with on-screen name Rosy. Movie was one of the surprise hits of 2006.

With many on-screen success to her credit, she finally decided to marry her love mentor and director Selvaraghavan, brother of actor Danush. She then refuses taking new projects and she even returned the advance amount to director Jeeva for the flick, July Katru. And the marriage was solemnized on December 15, 2006 in Chennai.

Now the buzz is that she is planning to make her return to continue acting again in films and she is further interested in learning the techniques of film direction as she likes to assist her husband in his projects too. She is getting many acting offers and that includes the offer from her father-in-law too. Everyone in the family is supportive to her decision except her mom-in-law, who does not like her to hooked up to the showbiz again. Now we have to wait and watch where the destiny will take to Sonia.
